Analysis reveals structural improvements in ferrosilicon inserts from remelting in casting molds, suggesting better quality.
An electron microscopic study of the structural-and-phase composition of materials for late graphitizing modification of cast iron melt in a casting bowl, namely a FS75 piece (JSC «CHEMK»), and inside a mold (in the sump under the riser), namely a cast insert, has been performed. An analysis of the shape and location of the main phases with their individual morphological features (size, casting defects, etc.) was carried out. The conclusion was made about the positive effect of re-melting ferrosilicon in the manufacture of cast inserts.
