Observational analysis reveals cast inserts enhance graphitizing modification in cast iron, indicating improved processing efficiency.
The technology of graphitizing modification of graphitized cast iron, using cast inserts for melt processing, which is the most optimal according to the technical-and-economic criterion, is discussed. Cast inserts are an effective modifier for the late graphitizing processing of medium- and large-sized castings. The analysis of the obtained results shows that the use of a ferrosilicon cast insert with a complex of modifier-elements for the graphitizing modification occupies an intermediate position in its effectiveness between jet modification (MSI-process) and bucket modification, taking into account general quantitative ranges of their consumption.
