In a rat model, severe myocardial infarction leads to a more pronounced decline in ejection fraction and loss of tissue anisotropy compared to mild infarction.
Mehdi et al. (2025) studied Myocardial infarction (n=6). Severe myocardial infarction (LAD ligation within 2 mm below LA) vs. Mild myocardial infarction and sham was evaluated on Ejection fraction, myocardial stress, and anisotropy. Severe myocardial infarction in rats resulted in a greater reduction in ejection fraction and a more pronounced loss of tissue anisotropy compared to mild infarction.
