Retrospective analysis shows pre-emptive treatment improves survival in AML patients experiencing MRD relapse, indicating efficacy of azacitidine and venetoclax.
Key Points
To evaluate outcomes of AML patients following MRD relapse and the impact of pre-emptive treatments.
Retrospective analysis of AML patients in BC diagnosed from April 2022 to October 2024
Patients received frontline intensive chemotherapy and had at least 2 MRD measurements
MRD testing performed using droplet digital PCR, following ELN guidelines for monitoring.
22% of patients had MRD relapse after chemotherapy, median time to relapse was 7.7 months
1- and 2-year overall survival for patients with MRD relapse post-chemotherapy was 95% and 67% respectively
Patients receiving pre-emptive treatment had a higher 2-year overall survival compared to those not treated (80% vs. 27%).
