Interviews explore macropinocytosis role in cell proliferation in macrophages, suggesting vital mechanisms at play.
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Biniam M. Tebeje is first author on ‘ Macropinocytosis facilitates amino acid acquisition from extracellular fluid to support cell proliferation in macrophages’, published in JCS. Biniam conducted the research described in this article while a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Joel Swanson's lab at Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Michigan Medical School, USA. He is now a Postdoctoral research fellow in the lab of Leslie Satin at the University of Michigan Medical School, investigating the cellular mechanisms of Ca2+-dependent signaling and ion channel regulation in immune and metabolic systems.
