Key Points

  • The aim is to synthesize sulfonylated 4-amino-2-quinolone derivatives using a radical addition/cyclization reaction.
  • Utilized ortho-cyanoarylacrylamides and sodium sulfinates as starting materials
  • Employed silver as a catalyst to facilitate the reaction
  • Demonstrated the method's scalability in producing the desired compounds
  • Achieved good to excellent yields of sulfonylated 4-amino-2-quinolone derivatives
  • The method tolerated various substrates, showcasing its versatility

Abstract

ABSTRACT We report the synthesis of sulfonylated 4‐amino‐2‐quinolone derivatives from ortho ‐cyanoarylacrylamides with sodium sulfinates via silver‐catalysed radical addition/cyclization cascade reaction. Various substrates were tolerated well and afforded the desired products in good to excellent yields. We have demonstrated a scale‐up reaction for this methodology.
