This research evaluates electron emission characteristics in NEA-GaAs surfaces, indicating surface morphology is critical.
It is well-known that the negative electron affinity (NEA) surface is very sensitive to the surface conditions, and exhibits complicated behavior depending on environments. In this research, fundamental electron emission characteristics on structural surfaces were evaluated to discuss the influence of surface morphologies on the NEA characteristics. For this purpose, we have established the formation process of artificial miro/nano structure-alley, and also studied its surface cleaning process at room temperature using Ar^+ sputtering.
