Key result
Aneurysm resection with linear plasty by Cooley and endoventriculoplasty by Dor both significantly increased LV ejection fraction and yielded similar survival, with IABP required in 3.5% vs 11.1%.
Why the study?
The optimal surgical technique for treating post-infarction left ventricular aneurysms remained to be determined.
Does aneurysm resection with linear Cooley plasty compared to Dor endoventricular plasty improve outcomes in patients with post-infarction left ventricular aneurysms?

Does aneurysm resection with linear Cooley plasty compared to Dor endoventricular plasty improve outcomes in patients with post-infarction left ventricular aneurysms?
Both linear Cooley plasty and Dor endoventricular plasty are effective surgical treatments for post-infarction LV aneurysms, significantly increasing LV ejection fraction with similar early survival.

Plechev et al. (2022) conducted a cohort in Post-infarction left ventricular aneurysm (n=83). Aneurysm resection with linear plasty by Cooley vs. Endoventriculoplasty by Dor was evaluated on Intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation requirement. Aneurysm resection with linear plasty by Cooley and endoventriculoplasty by Dor both significantly increased LV ejection fraction and yielded similar survival, with IABP required in 3.5% vs 11.1%.
