Dantrolene reduces dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular tachyarrhythmias in post-MI heart failure rats.
Why the study?
It was unknown whether failing hearts have increased vulnerability to dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular arrhythmias, and whether dantrolene treatment provides therapeutic benefits.
Does dantrolene treatment reduce dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular arrhythmias in MI-HF rats?
Does dantrolene treatment reduce dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular arrhythmias in MI-HF rats?
Dantrolene treatment reduces the vulnerability of failing hearts to dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular arrhythmias in a rat model.
Should not change clinical practice; hypothesis-generating for dantrolene in MI-HF arrhythmia models.
Background: Compared with normal hearts, failing hearts are more vulnerable to develop atrial fibrillation under sympathetic stimulation. It has been shown that dobutamine and caffeine challenge can induce spontaneous ventricular tachyarrhythmias in normal hearts. Objective: This study was designed to investigate whether failing hearts have increased vulnerability to dobutamine- and caffeine-induced ventricular arrhythmias, and whether dantrolene treatment provides therapeutic benefits in this condition. Methods: sparks in isolated ventricular myocytes from control and MI-HF rats were also examined. Results: sparks in these animals. Conclusion: sparks in isolated ventricular myocytes from failing hearts and ameliorated ventricular tachyarrhythmias induced by dobutamine and caffeine in MI-HF rats in vivo.

Greco et al. (2024) studied Heart failure. Dantrolene vs. Control was evaluated on Ventricular tachyarrhythmias induced by dobutamine and caffeine. Dantrolene treatment ameliorated ventricular tachyarrhythmias induced by dobutamine and caffeine in myocardial infarction-induced heart failure rats in vivo.
