Genome assembly reveals structural details of cowberry, indicating its importance for biodiversity research.
<ns5:p> We present a genome assembly of <ns5:italic>Vaccinium vitis-idaea</ns5:italic> (cowberry; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Ericales; Ericaceae). The genome sequence has a total length of 513.48 megabases. Most of the assembly (99.19%) is scaffolded into 12 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial sequence has a length of 550.45 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 179.1 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland. </ns5:p>
