During incremental cycling, the blood lactate threshold (40.8% VO2max) was not significantly different from the epinephrine threshold (45.5%, p<0.10) but was lower than the norepinephrine threshold (46.6%, p<0.05).

May indicate catecholamines are not sole determinant of lactate threshold; hypothesis-generating and requires validation in longitudinal studies.
Cross-Sectional (n=10)
The findings suggest that the increase in plasma catecholamine levels during incremental exercise is not the sole determinant of the lactate threshold.
Schneider et al. (1992) conducted a cross-sectional in Untrained (n=10). Incremental cycling was evaluated on VO2 at threshold expressed as a percent of VO2max for blood lactate (Tlact), epinephrine (TE), and norepinephrine (TNE). During incremental cycling, the blood lactate threshold (40.8% VO2max) was not significantly different from the epinephrine threshold (45.5%, p<0.10) but was lower than the norepinephrine threshold (46.6%, p<0.05).
