CRT effectively treats pediatric PICM but requires individualized assessment in DCM and CHD.
Why the study?
While CRT is established for adult heart failure and pediatric pacemaker-induced cardiomyopathy, its efficacy in pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy and congenital heart disease remains unestablished and challenging to standardize into guidelines.
Does cardiac resynchronization therapy improve heart failure in pediatric and congenital heart disease patients?
Does cardiac resynchronization therapy improve heart failure in pediatric and congenital heart disease patients?
While CRT is an established treatment for pacemaker-induced cardiomyopathy in children, its use in pediatric DCM and congenital heart disease cannot simply follow adult guidelines and requires individualized evaluation.
CRT supports selective use in pediatric pacemaker-induced cardiomyopathy; application in DCM and CHD leaves optimal indications open.

Tsugutoshi Suzuki (2023) conducted a review in Heart failure in pediatrics and congenital heart disease. Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) was evaluated. Cardiac resynchronization therapy is effective for pacemaker-induced cardiomyopathy in children, but its application in pediatric dilated cardiomyopathy and congenital heart disease requires individualized assessment.
