The current age of corporate responsibility and sustainability is witnessing companies increasingly integrating eco-friendly measures into their Human Resource Systems (HRSs) to enhance both environmental performance and employee engagement. Grounded in the United Nations development goals SDGs, this study examines the role of sustainable human resource practices HRPs, namely Green Recruitment and selection, Green training and development, and Green compensation and reward, in advancing SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through enhanced employee engagement and SDG 13 (Climate action) through an environmentally responsible HR system. This research will assess the effects of Sustainable HRP—namely, Green Recruitment and Selection, Green Training and Development, and Green Compensation and Rewards—on employee engagement, with firm image being the mediator. Questionnaires were completed by 205 employees in Indian sustainability focused organizations; the findings demonstrate that all three dimensions of Sustainable HRM have an important effect on the company image, which has a positive influence on employee engagement, and that company image also serves as a mediator of the relationship between sustainable HR practices and employee engagement. The study highlights the future objectives of HRP for enhancing the sustainability goals of an organization, consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Additionally, it provides valuable information for managers seeking to incorporate environmental responsibility into HR functions to enhance employee engagement and sustainable business development.
