Demonstrates improved accuracy in fluid motion analysis using a continuous model.
This study addresses the structural numerical errors of conventional finite difference grid models in 3D-PIV fluid motion analysis by validating a 3D Continuous Field Model. Evaluating standard wall shear flow (VSJ), DNS cylinder wakes, and tomographic particle datasets (4th International PIV Challenge) on a 128x128x128 voxel resolution, the results demonstrate that discrete models artificially inflate geometric spatial stress (Dirichlet energy) by factors of 8.14–8.18 due to boundary fragmentation noise. By implementing a trilinear interpolation layer and a 3x3x3 convolution stencil fixed at 27 degrees of freedom, the proposed continuous model eliminates discretization artifacts, achieving an energy stabilization efficiency up to 86.205727% without empirical parameters. Mathematical validity and geometric invariance are verified by the linear convergence of local orientation vectors at symmetry points and Welch's t-test (P <= 10^-300).
