Why the study?
Do transcatheter edge-to-edge repair or transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement improve immediate RV and LV pressure-volume relationships in patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation?
Do transcatheter edge-to-edge repair or transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement improve immediate RV and LV pressure-volume relationships in patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation?
This study aims to elucidate the immediate physiological impact of transcatheter tricuspid interventions on biventricular mechanics.
Severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) generates volume overloading of the right ventricle that affects right and left ventricular (RV and LV) cardiac mechanics. Tricuspid-Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (T-TEER) and Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TTVR) emerged as attractive strategies to reduce or eliminate TR, yet their effects on cardiac mechanics remain elusive. We aimed to describe the immediate effects of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair or transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement on RV and LV pressure-volume relationships and the impact of residual TR.

Mondellini et al. (2026) studied Severe tricuspid regurgitation. Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (T-TEER) and Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TTVR) was evaluated on Right and left ventricular pressure-volume relationships and the impact of residual TR.
