High cardiac abnormality rates in hemodialysis patients warrant caution in interpretation; leaves open prospective studies on screening and outcomes.

End-stage CKD patients on maintenance hemodialysis exhibit a high prevalence of severe cardiac structural and functional abnormalities, including LV hypertrophy, systolic and diastolic dysfunction, and valvular disease.
Imane et al. (2026) conducted a cross-sectional in End-stage renal disease (ESRD) on maintenance hemodialysis (n=78). Echocardiography in adults with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis revealed left ventricular hypertrophy in 74.4% and reduced ejection fraction (<50%) in 30.8%.
