Comparative linguistic analysis reveals sports terminology adaptations in English and Uzbek, indicating globalization effects.
this thesis presents a comparative linguistic analysis of sports terminology in the English and Uzbek languages. Using a corpus of 200 common sporting terms spanning football, combat sports, and general athletics, the study investigates structural, morphological, and semantic adaptions. The findings indicate a heavy reliance on transliterated English loanwords in modern sports discourse, contrasted against native semantic calques and morphological adaptations using Uzbek synthetic affixes. Furthermore, the globalization of traditional Uzbek sports (e.g., Kurash) has led to minor reverse linguistic flows.
