Comparative thought experiment reveals structural similarities between living systems and the universe, suggesting a framework for understanding.
Short Abstract This paper presents a comparative thought experiment examining the structural isomorphism between living systems and the universe through the framework of DMF (Dynamic Mass Flow) ontology. Rather than proposing that the universe is a living organism, the study compares the structural principles underlying biological metabolism and cosmic organization. Living systems maintain hierarchical structures through continuous metabolic flow, while the universe is interpreted as maintaining hierarchical structures through DMF as an ontological update condition. The purpose of this study is not to demonstrate the physical substance of DMF, but to examine whether introducing DMF as a structural maintenance concept for the universe is as rational as introducing metabolism as the structural maintenance concept for living systems. By distinguishing structural similarity from ontological identity, the paper argues that both systems can be understood within a common framework based on flow, localized self-constraint, hierarchical organization, and structural renewal. The study further discusses the decisive distinction between finite externally dependent systems and the externally independent structure of the universe, providing a conceptual foundation for understanding DMF ontology from a structural perspective.
