Chronic nitric oxide inhibition caused glomerular tuft collapse in 10.1 ± 2.2% of glomeruli, interstitial fibrosis, and marked dispersion of plasma renin activity, all of which were prevented by nifedipine.
Nifedipine slightly reduced systemic blood pressure at day 15 but did not ameliorate acute or subacute renal vasoconstriction induced by nitric oxide inhibition.
