Animal data on ryanodine in coronary smooth muscle extend SR Ca2+ models; leaves open human translation.
In bovine and porcine coronary artery smooth muscle cells, ryanodine releases Ca2+ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum and decreases Ca2+ efflux, with bovine cells showing a larger sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ store.
