Why the study?
Does atrial rhythm (atrial fibrillation vs. sinus rhythm) influence catheter tissue contact force during radiofrequency catheter ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation?
Population
25 patients with symptomatic, drug-resistant atrial fibrillation undergoing radiofrequency catheter…
Comparison
Radiofrequency catheter ablation and contact… vs Radiofrequency catheter ablation and contact…
Design
Cohort, Operators were blinded to the real-time contact force (CF) information.

May support rhythm-aware CF monitoring in AF ablation; leaves open impact on durable lesions.
Does atrial rhythm (atrial fibrillation vs. sinus rhythm) influence catheter tissue contact force during radiofrequency catheter ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation?
During radiofrequency catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, ablating during AF rather than sinus rhythm results in more constant tissue contact but also carries a higher risk of excessive contact force, particularly at the anterior right inferior pulmonary vein.
