Why the study?
Does amlodipine improve 24-hour therapeutic coverage and residual blood pressure control after dose omission compared to perindopril in patients with mild to moderate hypertension?
Population
96 patients with mild to moderate hypertension (diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90 mmHg and ≤ 109 mmHg).
Comparison
Amlodipine 5-10 mg once a day for 60 days. vs Perindopril 4-8 mg once a day for 60 days.
Design
RCT, randomly allocated, double-blind
Follow-up
60 days

Comparable 24-hour coverage supports either agent for mild-moderate hypertension; confirms equivalent trough:peak ratios in this RCT.
Does amlodipine improve 24-hour therapeutic coverage and residual blood pressure control after dose omission compared to perindopril in patients with mild to moderate hypertension?
Amlodipine and perindopril provide comparable 24-hour blood pressure coverage, but amlodipine maintains more effective blood pressure control after a missed dose.
