Media:lumen ratio correlated with left ventricular mass index in hypertensive patients overall (r = 0.45, P < .001) and specifically in those with left ventricular hypertrophy (r = 0.60, P < .001), but not in patients without hypertrophy or controls.
Multiple regression analysis confirmed that media:lumen ratio and blood pressure independently predict left ventricular mass, with the most marked remodeling observed in non-dippers.
