High-salt aldosterone suppression without ANP changes in pregnant rats is hypothesis-generating; leaves open relevance to human maternal-fetal physiology.
In pregnant and fetal rats, a high-salt diet decreases aldosterone secretion but does not alter ANP secretion or receptor binding, suggesting ANP is not involved in regulating water and electrolyte balance during salt loading in this model.
