AT1 but not AT2 antagonism mitigates Ang II effects in rats; extends mechanistic insights but leaves open human translation.
Does AT1 or AT2 receptor antagonism prevent Angiotensin II-induced hypertension and cardiovascular growth in Wistar rats?
In Angiotensin II-infused normotensive rats, AT1 receptor antagonism (losartan) but not AT2 receptor antagonism (PD123319) prevents hypertension and cardiovascular growth, supporting the primary role of AT1 receptors in mediating these effects.
Li et al. (1998) studied this question.
