Qualitative analysis demonstrates multi-platform narrative reconstruction of classical literature, highlighting modern reception mechanisms across diverse media formats.
Under the dual influence of media technology iteration and cultural consumption upgrading, cross-media communication has become an important path for the inheritance and creative transformation of classical literature. As a pinnacle of Chinese classical fiction, Dream of the Red Chamber has undergone adaptive reconstruction and modern interpretation of its narrative art, including character shaping, plot construction, spatiotemporal narration, and metaphorical imagery, through film, opera, digital media, and cultural and creative products. Drawing on cross-media narrative theory, reception aesthetics, and media situation theory, this paper constructs a “media characteristicsnarrative reconstruction-interpretation mechanism-reception effect” framework. It systematically examines how the narrative art of Dream of the Red Chamber is transformed across different media forms and analyzes the reception rules of its aesthetic motifs in modern cultural communication. The study clarifies the narrative advantages, adaptation mechanisms, and audience acceptance characteristics of multiple media forms, providing a theoretical reference for cross-media dissemination and modern interpretation of classical literary works.
