Theoretical analysis demonstrates emergent spacetime and physical laws from string-energy coarse-graining, indicating that macroscopic reality is an ontological consequence of scale transitions.
For more than a century, the relationship between microscopic fundamentality and macroscopic reality has been framed as an epistemological problem: coarse-graining is merely an approximation scheme that loses information. This paper argues, conversely, that coarse-graining is an ontological mechanism constitutive of the entities, structures, and laws we observe. Within the Coarse-Graining String-Energy Framework (CSF-CMT), six string energy states inhabiting a pre-geometric "First Space" undergo statistical averaging at scale L_c to produce spacetime, matter, and the fundamental forces. We develop three central philosophical theses: (1) scale-relative realism —the entities of the Standard Model and General Relativity are as real as their microscopic counterparts, but their reality is indexed to the coarse-graining scale; (2) processual fundamentality —what is fundamental is not a static set of particles or fields, but the dynamical process of information loss through coarse-graining; and (3) emergent lawhood —physical laws are not transcendent constraints on nature, but regularities frozen by the irreversibility of coarse-graining transitions. We assess CSF-CMT through Lakatos's methodology of scientific research programmes, identifying its hard core, protective belt, and heuristic structure. The framework yields concrete, falsifiable deviations from standard physics, most notably a modified black-hole shadow geometry and a running effective speed of light in the early universe, while grounding the arrow of time and the quantum measurement problem in the same ontological mechanism.
