Should not yet influence antiplatelet strategies; leaves open the contribution of 12-OH-20:3(5,8,10) to thrombosis in vivo.
The 12-OH derivative of 20:3n-9 acts similarly to prostaglandin E2, potentiating platelet aggregation at physiological concentrations and likely explaining the hyperaggregability of 20:3n-9-rich platelets.
Lagarde et al. (1985) studied this question.
