Distal constriction may attenuate proximal responses in rat kidney; extends mechanistic insight into paradoxical dilatation but leaves open human relevance.
The study demonstrates that constriction of distal vessels can attenuate or reverse intrinsic constrictor responses in proximal feed arteries by increasing upstream pressure, explaining paradoxical dilatation in the rat isolated perfused kidney.
