Why the study?
Does combination therapy with percutaneous ethanol injection and a beta-blocker improve QOL and symptoms in a hemodialysis patient with severe secondary hyperparathyroidism and congestive heart failure?
Does combination therapy with percutaneous ethanol injection and a beta-blocker improve QOL and symptoms in a hemodialysis patient with severe secondary hyperparathyroidism and congestive heart failure?
Combination therapy with percutaneous ethanol injection and a beta-blocker may be a useful alternative for hemodialysis patients with severe secondary hyperparathyroidism and refractory heart failure who cannot undergo or refuse parathyroidectomy.
May offer symptom relief when parathyroidectomy is refused; hypothesis-generating for controlled trials in secondary hyperparathyroidism with heart failure.
