Heavy chain phosphorylation curbs cortical myosin to support motility in Dictyostelium; extends basic models but leaves open mammalian relevance.
Phosphorylation of myosin heavy and light chains is not required for localization to the cleavage furrow and posterior region in Dictyostelium, but lack of heavy chain phosphorylation causes excessive cortical myosin and retards motility.
