Aim: To evaluate the fracture resistance (FR) of alkasite material and high-viscosity ultrafine glass ionomer cement (GIC) and compare it with short fiber-reinforced composite as a postendodontic restorative material.Methodology: Forty-two noncarious maxillary premolars of standardized size were selected.Following class I access preparation and obturation, the samples were sorted into three groups based on postendodontic restorative materials.Fracture resistance was tested using a universal testing machine (UTM), and the highest force required to fracture the tooth was recorded. Results: Mean load at break among the groups was highest in group I (Ever X Posterior). When the FR of group I (Ever X Posterior) was compared to group II (Cention Forte), the value of group I was higher, but it was not statistically significant (p < 0.001).On comparing the FR of group I (Ever X Posterior) to group III (Equia Forte), the value was higher for group I and was statistically significant compared to group III (p < 0.001).Fracture resistance of group II (Cention Forte) was greater compared to group III (Equia Forte), and it was statistically significant (p < 0.001).Conclusion: Within the study's limits, FR was shown to be high in group I (short fiber-reinforced composite). But there was no statistical difference when comparing the FR of group II (alkasite) with group I. So, alkasite is comparable to short fiber-reinforced composites as a postendodontic restorative material.Group III (high viscosity ultrafine GIC) showed the least FR, and it was statistically significant when compared with groups II and I. Clinical significance: Short fiber-reinforced composite is the most widely used material, but the drawback is that exposure of fibers to saliva in the oral cavity induces corrosion that causes negative impact.Alkasite is a bioactive material with an anticariogenic property available in capsules, and high-viscosity ultrafine GIC has a hydroxyl ion-releasing property.
