Theoretical model uncovers quantum master clock phase-locking as the driver of mitochondrial maternal inheritance in zygotes, suggesting physical synchronization precedes differentiation.
The physical imperative underlying “maternal inheritance”—wherein paternal mitochondria are systematically degraded immediately after fertilization via selective autophagy (mitophagy), ensuring exclusively maternal mitochondrial transmission—remains insufficiently explained by classical biochemistry alone (e.g., avoiding the accumulation of mutated mtDNA). In this paper, based on the In Vivo Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) hypothesis, we redefine mitochondria as “high electrostatic field shielding plants and quantum master clock oscillators.” We formulate the strict maternal inheritance observed at fertilization from a quantum information perspective as an essential “clock phase-locking and absolute phase-jitter elimination mechanism.” This ensures that the zygote can safely execute cellular differentiation and sensor zero-point adjustment (calibration) under the supervisory quantum-control environment (base OS) provided by the maternal system.
