Simultaneous surgical repair of ventricular septal defect, aortic insufficiency, and septal tricuspid leaflet perforation caused by bacterial endocarditis was successful in two cases.
Case Report (n=2)
Simultaneous surgical repair of ventricular septal defect, aortic insufficiency, and tricuspid leaflet perforation caused by bacterial endocarditis is feasible and can be successful.
Suggests combined repair feasibility in rare endocarditis cases; leaves open durability, generalizability, and need for larger series.
Two cases of perforation of the ventricular septum, in association with aortic insufficiency, in the course of bacterial endocarditis, due to streptococcus viri-dans, are described. In both cases the perforation also included the base of the septal tricuspid leaflet, permitting a part of the left-to-right shunt to enter the right atrium. Both cases were successfully operated upon with repair of all three lesions simultaneously.

Björk et al. (1968) conducted a case report in Ventricular septal defect and aortic insufficiency caused by bacterial endocarditis (n=2). Simultaneous surgical repair of all three lesions was evaluated on Surgical success. Simultaneous surgical repair of ventricular septal defect, aortic insufficiency, and septal tricuspid leaflet perforation caused by bacterial endocarditis was successful in two cases.
