Pindolol may aid BP control in hypertension; extends observational data across settings but leaves open its role versus modern agents in RCTs.
Does pindolol reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients?
Pindolol effectively lowers blood pressure in hypertensive patients in both hospital and general practice settings.
Blowers et al. (1977) studied hypertension (n=131). pindolol was evaluated on blood pressure control and mean supine blood pressure reduction. Pindolol monotherapy controlled blood pressure in 33-64% of hypertensive patients, achieving mean supine blood pressure reductions of 35/17 mmHg in hospital and 36/20 mmHg in general practice.
