JIP-1 expression inhibits hypertrophic gene expression up to ~86% in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes.
Why the study?
Does JIP-1 overexpression inhibit hypertrophic gene expression in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes?
Does JIP-1 overexpression inhibit hypertrophic gene expression in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes?
Activation of the JNK pathway contributes to the transcriptional and morphological responses to Gq receptor-coupled hypertrophic agonists in cardiac myocytes.

JIP-1 may blunt hypertrophic signaling in rat myocytes; leaves open in vivo relevance and clinical translation.
FINN et al. (2001) studied Hypertrophic response in cardiac myocytes. Expression of JIP-1 (JNK-interacting protein 1) was evaluated on Increase in ANF, β-MHC, SkαA and vMLC2 reporter gene expression in response to ET-1 and PE. Expression of JIP-1 inhibited the increase in hypertrophic reporter gene expression in response to ET-1 (by 45–86%) and PE (by 56–60%) in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes.
