Modifications have been made to the Aminco-Bowman spectrophotofluorometer to obtain monochromatic fluorescence excitation and to eliminate spurious peaks and background in the observed fluorescence spectrum. The instrument has been used for the fluorescence spectrophotometry of small organic crystals in transmission. A specimen cell has been designed for crystal luminescence studies at temperatures from -170 to +160°C.
