This study demonstrates regional variation in stimulated release of endothelium-derived NO in the guinea pig thoracic aorta, which is enhanced by pregnancy.
Gregg et al. (2008) studied this question. Pregnancy vs. Nonpregnant state was evaluated on Endothelium-derived NO-dependent relaxation to acetylcholine (ACh). Pregnancy decreased the ED50 for acetylcholine in the middle and distal segments of the guinea pig thoracic aorta, demonstrating an increased stimulated release of endothelium-derived NO.
