Covered stent successfully seals coronary perforation complicated by cardiac tamponade during PCI, enabling clinical recovery.
Why the study?
Expertise in managing complications such as coronary perforation with tamponade during percutaneous interventions is increasing but remains critical to report.
Covered stents can be successfully used as a bailout strategy to seal coronary perforations complicated by cardiac tamponade during percutaneous coronary interventions.
Supports covered stent bailout for perforation with tamponade; leaves open need for prospective validation.
In this era of intervention more and more percutaneous procedures are being done successfully. Meanwhile the expertise in dealing with complications in catheterization laboratory is increasing. We present a case of coronary perforation while undergoing angioplasty with development of tamponade which ultimately was sealed by covered stent. Patient is doing well on follow up.
