Prepectoral subfascial pocket creation offers a novel technique to minimize CIED traumatic pocket complications.
Why the study?
Lean or small subjects undergoing CIED implantation are at risk of pocket erosion with prepectoral subcutaneous pocket creation, motivating the use of prepectoral subfascial implantation to minimize complications.
Introduces a method for prepectoral subfascial pocket creation during CIED implantation to minimize pocket erosion in lean or small patients.
May reduce CIED pocket complications; leaves open confirmation versus standard techniques in prospective studies.
Pockets created in the prepectoral subcutaneous space in electrophysiology laboratories for the implantation of a cardiac implantable electrical device (CIED) have several advantages; however, lean or small subjects are thought to cause pocket erosion. To minimize such traumatic pocket complications, prepectoral subfascial implantation has been employed since the early 1990s. In this paper, we introduce a method for prepectoral subfascial pocket creation.

Katsuhiko Imai (2014) studied Cardiac implantable electrical device (CIED) implantation. Prepectoral subfascial pocket creation was evaluated. This paper introduces a method for prepectoral subfascial pocket creation for the implantation of a cardiac implantable electrical device to minimize traumatic pocket complications.
