Nateglinide shows no effect on acenocoumarol pharmacokinetics or anticoagulant activity.
Why the study?
The potential drug interaction between nateglinide and acenocoumarol, both metabolized via CYP2C9, was investigated to assess effects on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
Does nateglinide alter the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of acenocoumarol in healthy subjects?

Does nateglinide alter the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of acenocoumarol in healthy subjects?
Absolute Event Rate: 1170% vs 1136%
p-value: p=> 0.05
Co-administration of nateglinide does not influence the pharmacokinetics or anticoagulant activity of acenocoumarol, suggesting no dosage adjustments are needed.
No takes yet. Share an insight, caveat, or question.
No dosage adjustment needed for acenocoumarol with nateglinide; confirms absence of pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic interaction in this RCT.
Sunkara et al. (2003) conducted an RCT in Healthy subjects (n=11). Nateglinide vs. Placebo was evaluated on Area under the concentration-time curve of prothrombin time (AUC(PT)) (p=> 0.05). Co-administration of nateglinide did not significantly influence the pharmacokinetics or the anticoagulant activity of R- and S-acenocoumarol in healthy subjects (p > 0.05 for PT/PTINR).
