Key result
Circulating lncRNA H19 levels show no significant association with coronary artery disease.
Why the study?
Long non-coding RNAs play a significant role in atherosclerosis progression, but their association with coronary artery disease susceptibility remains unclear.
Case-Control (n=100)
No
p-value: p=0.584 (males), 0.521 (females)
Does not support H19 as CAD biomarker; leaves open lncRNA contributions to atherosclerosis susceptibility.

Bitarafan et al. (2019) conducted a case-control in Coronary Artery Disease (n=100). Increased lncRNA H19 expression vs. Normal lncRNA H19 expression (healthy controls) was evaluated on Association of H19 lncRNA expression level with CAD (p=0.584 (males), 0.521 (females)). Increased expression levels of lncRNA H19 in peripheral blood were observed in patients with coronary artery disease compared to controls, but this difference was not statistically significant.
