Key result
BNP, DLCO, and pulmonary vascular resistance correlate with RV diastolic function in systemic sclerosis.
Why the study?
Clinical and echocardiographic parameters impacting left and right ventricular diastolic and global function in systemic sclerosis patients were not well defined.
Observational (n=98)

Echo parameters may flag ventricular dysfunction in SSc; leaves open prospective validation before clinical adoption.
Ivanovic et al. (2011) conducted an observational in Systemic sclerosis (n=98). Systemic sclerosis vs. Healthy volunteers was evaluated on Left and right ventricular diastolic and global function. In patients with systemic sclerosis, BNP (β=0.403, P=0.016), DLCO (β=0.361, P=0.025), and pulmonary vascular resistance (β=0.507, P<0.001) were independently associated with RV diastolic function.
