Neutralizing mAb 2D10 targets a highly conserved LPAPTS epitope on duck hepatitis A virus VP1.
Why the study?
B-cell epitopes on the VP1 protein of duck hepatitis A genotype 1 virus (DHAV-1) had not been characterized, limiting diagnostic and vaccine development efforts.

May inform epitope-based vaccine or diagnostic design for duck hepatitis A virus; leaves open in vivo protection studies.
Wu et al. (2015) studied Duck Hepatitis A Virus (DHAV-1) infection. Monoclonal antibody 2D10 and synthetic peptides was evaluated on Identification of B-cell epitope on VP1 protein. The six-amino-acid sequence LPAPTS was identified as a highly conserved, VP1-specific linear B-cell epitope recognized by the neutralizing monoclonal antibody 2D10 against duck hepatitis A virus type 1.
