Key result
Hypaque 85 causes more PR prolongation and repolarization abnormalities than Urografin 76.
Why the study?
Electrocardiographic changes caused by contrast media during coronary arteriography in patients with normal coronary arteries were not well characterized.
p-value: p=<0.001

May favor Urografin to limit ECG changes during angiography; leaves open clinical relevance with modern agents.
Kyriakidis et al. (1978) studied Normal coronary arteries (n=40). Hypaque 85 vs. Urografin 76 was evaluated on Electrocardiographic changes including PR interval prolongation, ST segment depression, and T wave inversion (p=<0.001). Hypaque 85 caused significantly greater prolongation of the PR interval (p<0.001), ST segment depression (p<0.05), and T wave inversion (p<0.05) compared to Urografin 76.
