Key result
SEMAR app and cadre training boost community hypertension prevention knowledge by ~30%.
Why the study?
Hypertension is a leading cause of morbidity in Indonesia and is often undetected due to limited Posyandu cadre capacity and manual recording systems causing suboptimal early detection.
Does training and implementation of the digital SEMAR application improve Posyandu cadre competency and community knowledge in hypertension prevention?
Does training and implementation of the digital SEMAR application improve Posyandu cadre competency and community knowledge in hypertension prevention?
Digital applications like SEMAR can effectively enhance the performance of community health workers (cadres) in early detection and prevention of hypertension.
Digital training may enhance cadre hypertension screening capacity in Indonesia; leaves open impact on detection rates in controlled studies.
Hypertension is one of the leading causes of morbidity in Indonesia and is often undetected in the community. The limited capacity of Posyandu cadres and manual recording systems result in suboptimal early detection. This community service program aimed to improve the ability of Posyandu cadres in RW 06 Gedanganak Village to conduct screening and provide hypertension prevention education using the SEMAR application (Screening, Education, Monitoring of Atherothrombosis). The implementation methods included program socialization, cadre training, assistance in using the application, and evaluation through pre–post tests. The results showed an increase in cadre competencies in measuring blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels, as well as interpreting risk using the application. Community knowledge increased by 30%, and Posyandu participation improved. The SEMAR application proved to support more accurate documentation and facilitated counseling. This program concludes that digital technology is effective in enhancing cadre performance and strengthening community-based hypertension prevention efforts.
