Combining mechanism-based biomarkers with regenerative therapies shows promise for improving post-MI recovery.
Why the study?
Myocardial infarction causes irreversible cardiomyocyte loss and adverse remodeling, motivating exploration of biomarker-guided and regenerative therapeutic strategies to improve recovery.
The integration of novel biomarker-guided risk assessment with regenerative medicine represents a promising direction for improving long-term cardiac function and reducing complications after myocardial infarction.
May enable personalized post-MI strategies; hypothesis-generating and requires randomized trials before adoption.
Myocardial infarction remains a leading cause of long-term cardiovascular morbidity and mortality due to irreversible loss of cardiomyocytes, adverse ventricular remodeling, myocardial fibrosis, and progressive heart failure. Recent advances in cardiovascular research have focused on therapeutic strategies that combine early biomarker-guided risk assessment with regenerative medicine to enhance myocardial recovery and improve long-term cardiac function. Novel biomarkers reflecting myocardial injury, inflammation, fibrosis, angiogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, and cardiac stress enable more accurate prediction of disease progression and therapeutic response. Regenerative approaches, including stem cell therapy, extracellular vesicles, cardiac tissue engineering, biomaterial scaffolds, gene editing, and bioactive molecules, have demonstrated considerable potential for promoting myocardial repair, neovascularization, and functional regeneration. Integration of molecular biomarkers with regenerative technologies supports personalized therapeutic strategies tailored to the biological characteristics of individual patients. Although further clinical validation is required, these emerging approaches represent a promising direction for reducing post-infarction complications and improving survival. The combination of advanced biomarkers and regenerative medicine is expected to play a central role in the future of precision cardiology and post-myocardial infarction recovery. https://doi.org/10.52783/jchr.v16.i4.15647
