Scenario analysis reveals the impact of consumer behavior and technology on digital marketing strategies in e-commerce, suggesting adaptive planning.
The article explores the relevance and practical value of scenario analysis as a methodological tool for strategic planning in digital marketing, specifically within the B2C segment of e-commerce under conditions of technological turbulence and regulatory transformation. The study substantiates that the traditional linear approaches to forecasting lose their analytical capacity in an environment characterized by accelerated digitalization, shifting consumer behavior, and the increasing complexity of marketing ecosystems. By modeling three alternative development scenarios – baseline, optimistic, and pessimistic – the research outlines potential trajectories for the evolution of key digital marketing instruments, such as search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing (SMM), artificial intelligence-based automation, voice search, and personalization. Each scenario incorporates macroeconomic, technological, and regulatory factors that affect the pace and structure of digital marketing transformation. The analysis demonstrates that scenario planning enables decision-makers to account for uncertainty and develop flexible strategies tailored to various future conditions. In particular, the optimistic scenario highlights the potential for full-scale adoption of AI technologies, hyper-personalization, and the dominance of social commerce. The pessimistic scenario, conversely, reveals risks related to economic stagnation, data protection restrictions, and declining trust in algorithmic systems. The application of this approach creates the basis for the formation of flexible and adaptive strategies aimed at increasing the effectiveness of companies' marketing activities in conditions of uncertainty. The findings emphasize that the use of scenario analysis enhances the resilience and strategic responsiveness of businesses operating in the digital environment, allowing for informed planning and effective resource allocation in e-commerce markets. The research contributes to the theoretical understanding and practical application of foresight techniques in digital marketing management.
