Currently, agriculture in Russia is a developing link and a stable trend of the entire economy of the country and a relatively stable industry. At the same time, the problems of rural areas and especially their spatial development have firmly become one of the priority and urgent tasks in Russian agrarian and socio-economic policy. The State is taking all measures to improve the quality of life in rural areas. However, there is no cardinal solution to this problem, with the exception of some regions, such as Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod Region, the Republic of Tatarstan, etc. An important reserve for rural development is the diversification of the non-agricultural sector of the rural economy. As an example, the article cites the activities of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages and Towns of Russia as one of the projects effectively operating in this direction.
