The radioactive microsphere method is validated as a reliable technique for studying regional hemodynamics in conscious rhesus monkeys.
Investigations have been carried out to determine the reliability and validity of a method for making repeated measurements of the distribution of cardiac output, organ blood flow, and resistance in the unanaesthetized restrained rhesus monkey free from the influences of recent surgery. The data presented indicate that this “labelled microsphere” method, despite some problems, is a sensitive and reliable way to study regional haemodynamic changes in the monkey.
